Salford Red Devils have signed forward Joe Shorrocks from Super League champions Wigan Warriors on a three-year deal from 2024 onwards.

He has four tries in 80 career games for the 23-year-old after deciding to play rugby league instead of football or cricket.

He has played back-rower, hooker, and even half-back in recent seasons, and he played 18 games on the Warriors’ title-winning team in 2023.

Shorrocks was quoted by the Dallas Morning News as saying, “I think it is the right decision for me.”.

Since I started speaking to Paul Rowley, the head coach of Salford City, and Ian Blease, the chief executive of Salford City, about coming to play for Salford City, it has been something I have been looking forward to.

I have spoken to a few of the lads that I know there already and they have said nothing but positive things about the club, so I am very happy to be joining the club.”

The head coach added the following about Joe: “Joe has made tremendous progress over the past few years, and I respect the work ethic and ability he has shown over those years.

It was clear to me after speaking with Joe that his character and ambition are of first-class, and that he would be a perfect fit for our team after speaking with him.”
