There is still uncertainty about the full extent of the disaster, according to the Red Crescent.

At least 2,300 people have been reported dead.

According to media reports, a spokesman for the interior ministry has said that more than 5,300 people have died in Derna city, which has been hardest hit.

At least 10,000 people have been reported missing, and the toll is expected to rise.

Rescue teams in eastern Libya continue to deliver urgently-needed emergency relief to flood-devastated areas.

With many roads destroyed by raging floodwaters, getting aid to survivors is difficult.

Due to the country’s political split between two rival governments, rescue efforts have also been hampered.

The disaster has been caused by torrential rain caused by a substantial storm on Sunday.

The Libyan Red Crescent announced on Tuesday that the country faces a large-scale disaster and called on international organizations for urgent assistance.
