Karachi mayor visits underpasses, inspects drainage machinery

On Thursday, ARY News reported Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab visiting underpasses and inspecting drainage machinery ahead of the monsoon rains.

At Tariq Road, Umar Sharif, and Shaheed-e-Millat underpasses, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab inspected the drainage machinery. At Sharea Faisal, he also visited the pumping station and underpass of Shaheed Munawar Soharwardi.

He inspected the machinery for draining rainwater from underpasses under the jurisdiction of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).

The concerned officers were ordered to ensure that the underpasses were kept clean and that rain water was immediately drained during heavy rains.

The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) was granted corporation status a few days ago and will now be headed by Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab.

Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) has been granted municipal corporation status by Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori.

The KWSB Amendment Act, which increased the powers of the Mayor, came into effect following the approval.

Nasir Hussain Shah, Sindh’s local government minister, previously chaired the water board.
