Edward Enninful OBE, editor-in-chief of British Vogue, was named the UK’s most influential black person by the Powerlist 2024.

Powerful Media’s annual list honors people of African, African Caribbean, and African American descent.

It highlights black role models for young people in its 18th year.

There are also Afua Kyei, the chief financial officer of the Bank of England, and Dragon’s Den star Steven Bartlett on the list for 2024.

As the first black man to hold the top job at the British fashion magazine, Enninful announced earlier this year that he would be stepping down to focus on other projects and help grow the brand.

Additionally, he is Condé Nast’s European editorial director.

Having been ranked number one on the list, the 51-year-old describes it as an honor which “sheds light on black people who are unafraid and champion what it means to be truly diverse”.

In his early years, Enninful moved to London with his parents and six siblings from Ghana. When he was a teenager, he was scouted on a train and briefly worked as a model.

As the youngest editor of a major international fashion title, he was appointed fashion director of British youth culture magazine i-D at the age of 18.

This list recognizes both men and women from a wide range of industries, including business, science, technology, and the arts.
