Currently, he is part of the Pakistan squad competing in the SAFF Championship in Bengaluru, India.

I tried to understand their [Pakistan Football Federation] intentions and checked if they were doing things correctly. If I were to come here, I would need things done properly. Suliman told Sportstar that after making his decision, he was happy to come and give his all.

The grandparents of my family were born in Mirpur. My heritage and my roots are of course very important to me,” he said.

After losing their first two matches, Pakistan has been eliminated from the SAFF Championship. A 4-0 scoreline separated them from India and Kuwait.

It’s the first time we’ve all been together. It takes time to organize a team even if you have 11 very good players,” he said,

When it comes to India, you can tell the team has played together for some time. Their structure, organization, and playing style are all well defined. That was what I felt on the pitch.”

A loanee from Vitoria Guimaraes SC, the 25-year-old currently plays for UD Vilafranquense, a second-tier Portuguese football club.

Aside from this, Suliman was also a member of the England football team that won the 2017 European U19 Championship.

“England stands apart from all other countries. This goes back to your roots, it goes back to your youth football, it goes back to your education. “My upbringing in England gave me a sense of privilege,” he said.

“Over there, you have the best coaches and opportunities. That’s one of the biggest reasons I’m playing professionally.”
