Women’s Super League fixtures: Chelsea play Tottenham on first weekend; Aston Villa v Man Utd

In their first match of the 2023-24 season, Chelsea will play Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, 1 October.

BBC Two will broadcast Manchester United’s away game against Aston Villa at Villa Park on the same day.

Arsenal hosts Liverpool in their opener at Emirates Stadium, while Manchester City travels to West Ham.

The newly promoted Bristol City will play Leicester, while Everton will face Brighton.

On 26 August, Birmingham City will make an early trip to Blackburn Rovers, and newly promoted Watford will host Durham.

The Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand begins on Thursday before the final on 20 August, which delays the start of the WSL season.

As the Championship ends on 28 April, the final WSL league fixtures will take place on Saturday, 18 May, including Manchester United v Chelsea.

Chelsea have won the title each of the four previous seasons under Emma Hayes, but last season’s captain Magdalena Eriksson and forward Pernille Harder have joined Bayern Munich for free.

Earlier this month, new Spurs boss Robert Vilahamn was named the club’s new manager and his first competitive game will be against Chelsea on Sky Sports.

The Red Devils finished in their highest position in 2022-23, taking the title race to the end and finishing two points behind Chelsea. They will face a Villa side that includes last season’s top goal scorer Rachel Daly.

Alessia Russo joined Arsenal on a free transfer earlier this month after leaving Manchester United, and will face her old team on 8 October at Leigh Sports Village.

From 23-24 March 2024, Women’s Football Weekend returns, encouraging new and existing fans to celebrate the game by attending matches across the women’s pyramid during an international window.

On that weekend, Manchester City will play Manchester United, Everton will play Liverpool, and West Ham will play Chelsea.

On 15 October, Liverpool will play Everton in the first Merseyside derby of the season, and Manchester United will play Manchester City on 19 November.

The first of the north London derbies takes place on 17 December, with the reverse fixture taking place on 3 March.
