Taylor Swift concert security guard fired after breaking photo policy

A security guard at a Taylor Swift concert went viral after singing along to one of the pop star’s songs.
During Swift’s performance in the viral video, Minneapolis security guard Calvin Denker appeared to be having fun as he sang along to “Cruel Summer.” But the fun ended soon after when he was fired.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Denker said he “handed out little pieces of paper” to a few concertgoers during his shift and asked some attendees to take a selfie with him when Swift was nearby.”Two days later, I received a call from Human Resources, who informed me that I would be fired for handing out those papers,” he added.”I would really appreciate it if they took a picture of me with Taylor Swift in the background so that I can have a memory of that night,” Denker said.
The former security guard made a TikTok video detailing his plans for a photo opportunity with the “Bejeweled” singer and did not realize he would be penalized for it. He said he was unaware that he had broken any rules and thought the rule was only to keep his phone in his hand.
Additionally, he revealed in his viral TikTok video that he originally joined Swift’s security team so he wouldn’t have to pay for tickets.
Despite being fired for his concert fiasco, Denker was asked to be a security guard at an Ed Sheeran concert. He was told that the security company would allow him to work another event since he had shown “remorse” for his concert stunt. His initial supervisor, who had fired him, was confused and “not too pleased” when he saw him at the venue by the time his shift ended. As a result, he was permanently terminated after handing over his work gear.
In regards to Swift’s concert incident, Denker said that he did not hear from her team.
Taylor Swift is an important part of my life,” he said.
