Star halts talk show until writers strike ends

A tearful Drew Barrymore apologized on camera for continuing her CBS talk show.
On Monday, Barrymore was scheduled to return to the big screen.
Despite the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike since May, this was accomplished.
While her three unionised writers were on strike, she filmed the fourth season of her show earlier this week.
She initially refused to halt production, saying the show complied with strike rules.
There was a backlash on social media with many suggesting she wasn’t standing in solidarity with the cause. “I have listened to everyone and I am delaying the show’s premiere until the strike is over,” Barrymore wrote on Instagram.
“I cannot express my deepest apologies to anyone I have hurt and, of course, to our incredible team who make the show what it is today. A video of Barrymore “deeply apologizing” to writers and unions has been deleted since she posted it – now deleted.
I wanted to own a decision so it wasn’t a PR-protected situation. There is nothing I can say or do at this time to make it okay.
It is not who I am to upset or hurt anyone – it is not who I am.”
