Officer Daniel Auderer was responding to an incident where Jaahnavi Kandula, 23, was killed near her university.

According to the video, the officer suggests that the Indian student’s life is of “limited value” and that the city should “just write a check”.

According to the officer, his comments were taken out of context.

During a crossing on 23 January, Ms Kandula, a graduate student at Northeastern University, was struck and killed by a police car.

According to a police investigation report, the officer driving the car was going 74mph (119km/h) when the graduate student was thrown more than 100 feet (30m).

The officer’s body camera recorded audio from a call he made to a colleague during the incident.
