As part of the parliament’s youth quota, Mnangagwa appointed his son David Kudakwashe as deputy finance minister.

Local media reported that he also appointed his nephew, Tongai Mnangagwa, deputy tourism minister.

An ex-banker, Mthuli Ncube, was reappointed finance minister while Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, the party’s national chairperson, was reappointed defence minister.

Main opposition lawmaker Fadzayi Mahere called the new cabinet “indefensible” and accused President Mnangagwa of stoking nepotism.

The ruling party and the presidency have not responded to the accusation. Mr Mnangagwa’s supporters, however, say his son is qualified for the job.

The opposition has disputed Mr Mnangagwa’s re-election, alleging fraud, while observers say the election did not meet regional and international standards.
