At about 17:00 BST on Sunday, the two-year-old was reported missing from her home in Forge Road, Kingsley, near Bordon, Hampshire.

Hampshire Police said she died on Monday after being found in Kingsley Pond a short time later.

Police said the woman, in her 40s, remains in custody for questioning.

The girl’s family is being supported by specialist officers, the force said.
