Monsoon rains spell to start in country from today
Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Sunday forecast monsoon rains starting today (Monday) and lasting until July 8 in the country.
According to a report, a westerly wave will also enter Pakistan from July 3, bringing moist currents from the Arabian Sea. On July 4 to 7, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and other areas will receive rain and thunderstorms.
A mixture of rain, wind, thundershowers and isolated heavy falls is expected in Barkhan, Sibbi, Loralai, Kalat, Khuzdar, Zhob, Lasbella and Naseerabad, Bannu, Karak, Waziristan, Dera Ismael Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Kot Addu, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Sahiwal and Okara from July 5 to 8.
Also forecast were thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls on July 7 and 8 in Sukkur, Jacobabad, Ghotki, Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana, Mithi, Chhor, Padidan, Nagarparkar, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Dadu, Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad and Karachi.
In northeast Balochistan, heavy falls could trigger flash floods in the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan. It is also possible that heavy rains could cause landslides in the mountainous areas of Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Galliyat, and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
