Human Rights Watch has accused Saudi border guards of killing migrants along the Yemeni border.

Hundreds of people have been killed, many of them Ethiopians who crossed war-torn Yemen to reach Saudi Arabia.

Some migrants have reported seeing bodies on the trails and having their limbs severed by gunfire.

Previously, Saudi Arabia has denied allegations of systematic killings.

On Yemen’s rugged northern border with Saudi Arabia, migrants claim they were shot at and sometimes targeted with explosive weapons by Saudi police and soldiers, according to an HRW report titled They Fired On Us Like Rain.

In separate interviews with the BBC, migrants described terrifying night-time border crossings during which large groups of Ethiopians, including many women and children, came under fire as they sought employment in the oil-rich nation.

It went on and on,” Mustafa Soufia Mohammed, 21, told the BBC.

When they tried to sneak across the border in July last year, some of his 45 migrants were killed by gunfire.

It was a brutal, chaotic end to a three-month journey marred by danger, starvation, and violence at the hands of Yemeni and Ethiopian smugglers.

Hours later, a video shows his left foot almost completely severed. In Ethiopia, Mustafa walks with crutches and an ill-fitting prosthetic leg after having his leg amputated below the knee.

The father-of-two went to Saudi Arabia to better his family’s life, but his hopes did not materialize. Now, his parents take care of him completely.

There are some survivors who show signs of deep trauma.

Zahra is barely able to speak about what happened in Yemen’s capital.

It appears that she is younger than 18, even though she says she is 18. To protect her identity, we are not using her real name.

At the border, a hail of bullets ended her journey, which had already cost around $2,500 (£1,950) in ransoms and bribes.

One bullet killed all the fingers on one hand. She looks away and cannot answer questions about her injury.
