During this summer’s international commitments, Flintoff, 45, joined Mott’s white-ball coaching staff on an informal basis.

Last year, Flintoff was injured while filming Top Gear.

“We’d love to have him back in the future,” Mott said. At the beginning of September, Flintoff was pictured for the first time since he was injured on Top Gear’s test track at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surrey working with England’s players during a four-match one-day international series against New Zealand.

As a result of the weather, the final ODI against Ireland in Bristol was abandoned on Tuesday.

During the World Cup in India in October and November, Flintoff will not be part of England’s coaching staff, and it is not clear when he will rejoin the squad again.

Mott was unsure whether Flintoff might play in England’s bilateral ODI and T20 series against West Indies in December.

Having become involved with the coaching setup, Flintoff has had a positive impact on England’s players.

He [Flintoff] is revered, he has an aura about him, he is very special.” Mott added. What he has been through recently, the humility he has displayed, and the life experiences he can share have been immense.”

“Even seasoned Test veterans grew up idolizing him, and to see him in the flesh offering so much is very special.”.

We’ve enjoyed having him around – he’s certainly had some banter in the last week or so, and long may that continue.”

Flintoff was treated at the scene of the accident on 13 December before being taken to the hospital.

During Flintoff’s recovery, the apologised for his injuries and promised to support him.
