Bottle of luxury Scotch whisky sells for over $2M at auction. A bottle of this wine was previously purchased for $1.9 million in 2019 – a record price.

It is estimated that whiskey is worth approximately $131,000 per shot at that price point.

The Macallan 1926 has been produced in a limited quantity of 40 bottles. These bottles are not for sale. Clients and top customers of the distillery were instead gifted 40 luxury bottles of Scotch whisky.

“The Macallan 1926 has always been recognized as the most sought-after Scotch whisky, as illustrated by the sum of £1.5m ($1.9m) achieved by Sotheby’s in 2019, for the Fine & Rare version, setting a new auction record for any bottle of wine or spirit,” the auction house wrote before the sale.

A number of whiskies went up for auction at Sotheby’s this month, including Macallan 1926.

During the weekend of whisky, a few of the world’s most expensive and exclusive spirits were on display.
