The name of Khadija’s baby hasn’t even been given yet, but her first home is a tent on the side of the road.

On Friday night, just minutes before Morocco’s deadly earthquake, she was born.

Despite the fact that the mother and daughter were unhurt, the hospital in Marrakesh they were in was evacuated. Three hours after the birth, they were asked to leave.

As a result of the fear of aftershocks, they told us to leave.

On Saturday morning, Khadija and her husband attempted to take a taxi from Marrakesh to their home in Taddart in the Atlas Mountains.

Their journey was hindered by landslides, and they only made it as far as Asni. From then on, the family has lived in a tent on the side of the road.

She told us, holding her baby under a flimsy piece of tarpaulin, that she had not received any help or assistance from authorities.
