The names of nearly 3,000 victims of al-Qaeda attacks were read aloud by relatives.

Sybil Ramsaran, who lost her daughter 22 years ago, told a memorial event in New York that she still feels the same.

The day was marked in Alaska by President Joe Biden.

At Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, he told the US troops, “I join you on this solemn day to renew our sacred vow – never forget.”

New York City officials identified two more victims shortly before the anniversary, according to the mayor’s office.

These are the 1,648th and 1,649th victims identified by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Their names have been withheld at their families’ request.

On Monday, memorials were held at the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Virginia, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where a plane crashed after passengers overpowered the hijackers.
