Her hotly-anticipated albeit controversial next project, ‘Aquaman 2’, was also discussed at the premiere of her comeback film ‘In the Fire’ following the defamation trial she lost to Johnny Depp last year.

As a result of all those millions at risk, she feels pressure, but she is excited and honored to return as Mera in “Aquaman 2”.

According to Heard, her two upcoming films represent two extremes of my industry and are very different kinds of projects. With millions of dollars at stake, it’s a lot of pressure to make these big franchise movies [like Aquaman] as successful as possible, and compromises are necessary. On the other end of the spectrum is a small indie film like In The Fire, a work of art and love made with few resources, and therefore there are compromises.”

Having the ability to balance both is the best luck an actor can have, she said.

The franchise Aquaman and the machinery behind it, I’m very honored to be a part of it. There are also these small passion projects like In The Fire, where I’m happy to have gotten to know the filmmaker and the cast, and we worked together to make this story come to life. “I think success is an actor who is able to have both of those things,” the actor concluded.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, directed by James Wan and starring Jason Momoa and Amber Heard, is set for release on December 20.
