Drew Barrymore escorted off stage being verbally accosted by fan

On Monday night, Drew Barrymore was verbally accosted by a rowdy individual on stage at an event in New York City. She was swiftly escorted to safety.
As she answered a question at The 92nd Street Y in conversation with musician Reneé Rapp, Barrymore was startled by someone shouting her name.
During a video shared to social media, a man says, “You know who I am. I need to see you at some point while you’re in New York… OK.”.
Organizers of the event explained the man was originally believed to be heading to his seat when he approached the stage.
“He had a ticket for the event. As he walked down the aisle, the guard saw him, thought he was taking a seat, and then started screaming,” the insider said.
In an instant, the guard grabbed him, escorted him across the stage to the exit door on the other side. The guard escorted him right out of the theater.”
According to the source, Barrymore and Rapp went to the green room out of caution.
A guard yelled, “Go to the green room,” and they got up, the source said, adding that Rapp ushered Barrymore off stage.
They went into the green room, stayed for a few minutes, then came out and continued performing.”
“He didn’t threaten her, he’s not like a stalker to her,” the insider said in reference to someone yelling at Barrymore.
Police were notified of the situation, but the man was not arrested.
After the man left the event, we contacted NYPD, but they said, “There’s nothing to charge him with.” He didn’t fight it. He didn’t resist.”
