Trudeau blames ‘American-wing’ for Muslims opposing LGBTQ curriculum
According to Justin Trudeau, Canadian Muslims oppose gender ideology and LGBTQ curriculum in K-12 schools because of the “American right-wing.”.
Last week, Trudeau addressed the Muslim community at the Baitun Nur Mosque in Calgary after hundreds of protesters chanted “Leave our kids alone” against gender ideology in schools.
After audio emerged of an Edmonton Public Schools teacher berating Muslim students for skipping school to avoid pride events, frustration reached a boiling point.
This goes both ways. If you want respect for who you are, if you don’t want to suffer prejudice because of your religion, your skin color, or whatever, then you had better give it back to people who are different from you.”
A Muslim individual explained to Trudeau where the community came from, according to the video. It is my request to you, Mr. Prime Minister, that you protect our culture, our beliefs, and the sins that you are perpetrating against them.”
In response, he said, “First of all, there is a lot of misinformation and disinformation circulating on social media, particularly fueled by the American right-wing, spreading untruths about what is actually… in the curriculum.”
A request for comment from Trudeau’s office was not immediately returned.
There were hundreds of protesters chanting “Leave our children alone!” and “Our children, our choice!” on June 25 in Calgary, Alberta.
Mahmoud Mourra at the event said, “My brothers and sisters. We cannot stay hidden anymore. It doesn’t matter if you aren’t a father today; you will be a father tomorrow. If you are a mother today, you will be tomorrow. Your daughter will be born. Do you have a son who is young? He’s so vulnerable, and you have some really powerful predators who are willing to go after him. They’ll do whatever it takes to take your… kids.”
He continued, “We will do everything in our power to protect our children.”.
According to Trudeau, right-wing forces are driving a wedge between Muslim communities that harms the fabric of respect and openness that allows Canada to be one of the places where the Muslim community is supported and defended more than any other Western Canadian community.
There is not a lot of aggressive teaching or conversion of kids into being LGBT in the various curriculums. That is something that is being weaponized by people of the right who have consistently opposed Muslim rights,” he said.
“But they are weaponizing the LGBT issue, which is something that, yes, Islam has strong opinions on. A government that defends your rights will always stand up for your rights.” They are using those fears to drive a wedge between you and a government that will always defend them.”
“I’ll always stand up for the rights of LGBT kids, even if they’re LGBT Muslims… We’ll defend your rights even when you disagree with us defending other people’s rights.”
