The CEO of Palo Alto Networks warns that companies need modern, integrated cybersecurity: “The bad actors are moving faster.”.

Nikesh Arora, CEO of Palo Alto Networks, told Jim Cramer that companies need updated cybersecurity systems to protect against faster and more skilled hackers.

Defending the stuff in hours, not days, is what’s important for us, Arora said.

According to Nikesh Arora, CEO of Palo Alto Networks, companies need modernized cybersecurity systems to protect themselves against “bad actors” who gain access to sensitive data more quickly.

The problem isn’t that companies lack cybersecurity vendors, according to Arora. In reality, their security infrastructure may be comprised of a variety of vendors, some of whom are outdated.

In order to modernize all of that, you need to have a two-, three-year road map. This can be incorporated into an artificial intelligence stack so that it can be done in real time. The bad actors are moving faster,” he explained. The process of hacking into systems used to take days, but now it can be accomplished within a few hours, Arora said.

Our goal should be to be able to deflect the stuff within hours rather than days, Arora said. “And that requires a certain level of modernization.”. Spending more money isn’t necessarily necessary. It just means you have to be smart about how you spend it.”

Last month, the Securities and Exchange Commission released new guidelines requiring companies to report a “material” security breach within four days of its discovery. Cybersecurity breaches have recently been reported at companies like Freeport-McMoRan, Estee Lauder, and Clorox.

It’s really not a good idea to tell the SEC that your system has been breached and that you haven’t fixed it yet,” Arora said. All of us will have to make sure that customers can fix these things much more quickly, so that we can ensure customer satisfaction.”
