She has shown her body repeatedly in films since 1997’s “Titanic,” and for Vogue’s October cover story, Winslet explained why she has always embraced those kinds of scenes despite criticism about her body.

When asked why she refused to settle, Winslet laughed, “I wouldn’t accept that s— from anyone.” She said she started her career as “The fat kid at the back with the wrong f—ing shoes.” She was consistently told she was in the wrong shape. She was consistently told I would have to settle for less.”

In the interview, she said, “I know better than to waste precious energy criticizing my physical self.” In my opinion, women should simply say: “I believe in themselves. It doesn’t matter what other people think; I am who I am — let’s get on with it.” The 47-year-old spoke extensively about her upcoming film “Lee,” a biopic about war journalist Lee Miller, before the writers and actors strikes. Along with producing the movie, Winslet starred in it, and she suffered a serious back injury while filming.
