Rain delayed the start of India’s chase in Group A after Nepal were dismissed for 230 off 48.2 overs.

On the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method, they were set 145 off 23 overs and cruised to victory.

Rohit Sharma scored 74 not out off 59 balls, while Shubman Gill made 67 off 62 balls.

India joins Pakistan and Bangladesh in qualifying for the Super Four group stage of the 50-over tournament, where each team will play each other once and the top two teams will advance to the final on 17 September.

It is also possible for Sri Lanka to qualify if they avoid a heavy defeat by Afghanistan on Tuesday in Lahore, Pakistan.

Following a scoreless Group A match on Saturday due to rain, India will face Pakistan in Colombo on 10 September.

Because of political tensions, Pakistan and India have only played each other in ICC global tournaments, or in Asia Cup matches at neutral venues, since 2013.
