Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf has offered former Test cricketer Mohammad Hafeez the position of chief selector of the national team.

According to sources, Ashraf offered Hafeez a key post in the new setup on Thursday, after Hafeez retired in 2022. It took the cricketer-turned-analyst some time to think about the offer.

Hafeez congratulated Ashraf on becoming PCB’s head during the meeting.

It would be an honor for me to serve Pakistan cricket as an administrator under Zaka Ashraf. I respect him a lot, and I would be willing to accept a good offer,” said the former all-rounder.

There are reports that Haroon Rashid will soon be removed from his position as chief selector.

Younis Khan, Mohsin Hassan Khan, Saleem Yousuf, and Shoaib Akhtar are also likely to receive certain positions in the new selection process.

On July 5, the federal government appointed Ashraf to head the new management committee.

Through the circulation of a summary, the federal government approved the committee’s formation.

For the next four months, the committee will consist of 10 members.

A new chief election commissioner was also appointed, replacing Ahmed Shehzad Farooq Rana with Mahmood Iqbal.

Ten members of the committee are listed below:

A committee consisting of Zaka Ashraf (chairman), Kaleem Ullah Khan, Ashfaq Akhtar, Musaddiq Islam, Azmat Parvez, Zaheer Abbas, Khurram Karim Somroo, Khuwaja Nadeem, Mustafa Ramday and Zulfiqar Malik will met today to discuss the issues.
