There have been reports of problems with mobile phones from two of the UK’s most popular mobile networks.

According to Downdetector, reports of problems with Vodafone and EE began around midday.

The reported that Vodafone’s own network was not down, but customers were unable to call EE numbers.

EE apologized for any inconvenience to customers and said it was working quickly to resolve the issue.

“We’re aware that some of our mobile customers cannot make or receive calls from Vodafone numbers,” an EE spokesperson.

“We’re working quickly to resolve this and we’re very sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

EE also claimed earlier that calls to other networks, mobile data and text messages were not affected.

The statement differs slightly from the competitor’s version of events.

Vodafone customers had registered problems on problem tracking sites and on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Some of our customers have been impacted by an issue with EE’s network,” the company said.

Customers who had previously transferred their numbers from EE to Vodafone were also affected by this issue.

The Vodafone spokesperson said numbers transferred or “ported” from EE to any new network, such as Three, O2 or Vodafone, are affected, since three of the digits in the mobile number still identify them as EE numbers. Despite no longer being EE customers, calls are briefly routed through EE’s infrastructure even though they are no longer EE customers.
