Bletchley Park to host AI safety talks in November

Leaders from around the world will meet with AI companies and experts on 1 and 2 November.

It is the aim of the global talks to build an international consensus on the future of artificial intelligence.

It will be held at Bletchley Park, where Alan Turing, one of the pioneers of modern computing, worked during World War II.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said, “In order for artificial intelligence to flourish in the years to come, we must grasp and tackle its risks.”

We can ensure safe and responsible development of AI around the world with the combined strength of our international partners, thriving AI industry, and expert academic community.

A particular question mark is whether the Chinese government or tech giant Baidu will attend the event.

There has been no confirmation of more detailed topics for the summit, but it will focus on how technology can be developed safely through “internationally coordinated action.”

Palantir’s boss Alex Karp said only those without products wanted a pause on AI development in June.

Mr Sunak was also urged to tackle AI-generated images of child sexual abuse by the Internet Watch Foundation in July.
