Adobe previews new AI editing tools

Adobe announced new AI-powered tools and features at its annual Max event last week, including a dress that transforms into a wearable screen.
In the Adobe MAX Sneaks show, the company showcased prototype tools that use both generative AI and 3D image technology. These new capabilities cover photo, audio, video, 3D, fashion, and design, giving the public an early peek into ideas that could one day be widely used in Adobe products.
Other previewed items include the Project Stardust tool, which automatically detects each object in an image and lets users perform a variety of tasks. It can, for example, predict and prompt likely tasks, such as removing people from an image’s background, if it detects a suitcase within the photo.
Among the other products on display were Project Dub Dub Dub, a technology that automatically dubs audio over video into all supported languages while maintaining the speaker’s voice, as well as a new tool that allows Adobe users to see what the text-to-image generative AI tool Firefly might look like when applied to videos.
A beta version of Firefly was added to Photoshop in May, with the goal of “dramatically accelerating” photo editing. Adding or removing elements from images is as simple as typing a text prompt. Furthermore, it can automatically match the lighting and style of existing images, according to the company.
